The Importance of Having a Versatile Logo

Logos are one of the most important parts of a company’s branding material. When someone sees your logo, you want them to immediately recognize your company. However, it is also important for you to have a versatile logo. While yes, you want it to be memorable, but if it is not easily adaptable, it won’t work for long.

When you have a logo that can be used on multiple orientations and sizes, in a variation of colors, it gives you the flexibility to quickly put together marketing materials and distribute on multiple media platforms. Below are some quick tips on how to make your logo more versatile.

First, make sure you have different color variations of your logo.

While your main logo might have multiple colors, you want your logo to be as strong as a black and white logo too. Even having a single-color logo is beneficial. A lot of print media will only allow for a solid color (or will be significantly more expensive to print in multiple colors). Hence, it is important to have a few different variations on hand, but ensuring they are still easily recognizable as the logo that represents your company.

Next, you want to make sure you can easily resize your logo if needed without losing any quality.

An easy way to do this is by having your logo created as a vector file. This will allow you to put your logo on your business card (which tend to be small) and at the same time be able to use it on a billboard (reeeeeally big!). Since your logo will always need to be displayed in different sizes, it’s easy to adjust your vectorized logo while still retaining the quality of the image!

Lastly, you want to make sure you have a few variations of your logo.

To us, a simple logo is best. However, there are a few exceptions. If you have a logo that speaks to who you are as a company, but it has both a symbols and text that’s okay! Just make sure you also have one that still works with just the symbol, and maybe a few different layout options.

Again, it’s all about flexibility. Being able to pull the right logo quickly allows you to market your company on multiple platforms all while still being recognizable. There are ways to have multiple variations of your logo and still allow people to know exactly whose logo it is. These simple steps will give you that advantage!
